Here is the quote of the letter that the tenant replied to the landlord, with his comments in it.

Since I am now aware of the policy of having guests, I’ll keep in mind next time. But for this time, it is very embarrassing for me to charge my friend for the room. If I had known the policy earlier, I may not have let her stay with me. Since I was not notified and it was not mention in our contract…..
